Once registered in the program, student status lasts for 2 years but can be renewed upon request with proof of student status. Read more about the program on GitHub's blog post.

How do I sign up for the program?

You can sign up on GitHub's website: https://www.heroku.com/github-students

How many credits will I receive?

The program provides you with one Heroku Hobby Dyno for each eligible student for up to 2 years, valued at $84/year. This provides support for single Hobby dynos that never sleep, and also allows features such as seamless deploy with GitHub, free SSL on custom domains.

Program details

This is a 2-year program that grants you a total of $168 credits based on your application date. Once approved and applied to your Personal Heroku account, a maximum of $7 will be deducted each month from the allotted credits, whether there is a hobby dyno in use or not in your account.

Can the free dyno discount be applied to additional dynos or other items on my Heroku bill?

Unfortunately, we cannot extend the credits to other dynos or Add-ons in your Heroku account. If you have additional dynos or other paid Heroku services (Add-ons, Heroku CI), your free offer will not be applied to those. The Heroku offer is for one (1) free Hobby Dyno for a maximum of two years, which will be applied on your invoice as a discount of $7 for a Hobby Dyno on a monthly basis.

Please note that if your spending is $168 per month, you cannot use all your credits in one month to cover all of your charges. The maximum applicable credit is $7/month
